Health Risk Appraisal
A form that an individual should complete, prior to engaging in any activity, in order to answer any significant questions about their medical history that may restrict certain activities.
Medical History Questionnaire
A structured self-report questionnaire that generates subscale scores for physical functioning, role limitations due to physical problems, bodily pain, general health perceptions, vitality, social functioning, role-limitations due to emotional problems, and mental health.
Health Status Questionnaire
An abnormal accumulation of body fat, usually 20% or more over an individual's ideal body weight.
Obesity
A sensation in which a person is aware of an irregular, hard, or rapid heart beat.
Heart palpitations
An excessive accumulation of fluid in tissue spaces or a body cavity.
Edema
Arterial disease in which high blood pressure is the promary symptom.
Hypertension
An abnormality in the amount of lipids in the blood.
Dylipedemia
A narrowing or blockage of the arteries and vessels that provide oxygen and nutrients to the heart.
Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
Any disorder that invloves an alteration in the normal metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, water and nucleic acids evidenced by various syndromes and diseases and such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, obesity, and diabetes.
Metabolic Diease
A chronic respiratory disease, often arising from allergies, characterized by sudden recurring attacks of difficult breathing, chest constriction, and coughing.
Asthma
The sudden death of brain cells in a localized area due to inadequate blood flow.
Stroke
Abnormally low blood pressure.
Hypotension
Difficulty in breathing, often associated with lung or heart disease, resulting in shortness of breath.
Dyspnea
The coughing up of blood or bloody sputum from the lungs or airway.
Hemoptysis
A menstrual irregularity, seen especially in women who are involved in regular, high intensity exercise.
Amenorrhea
Chronic inability to fall asleep or remain asleep for an adequate of time.
Insomnia
Responsible for providing pre-hospital care by paramedics, emergency medical technicians, and medical first responders.
