Definition of a crew not being "intact" in a hazard zone

Responsibility of FF or FE during a PAR
-limit radio traffic
-communicate status to Captain by radio or face-to-face
Purpose of the Emergency Radio Button
-to be activated when FF is in imminent danger and speaking on the radio is not possible.
-FF seriously injured in fire and too much radio traffic
-FF injured and can't speak
-FF encounters dangerous person/situation and speaking on radio puts FF in greater risk
Emergency Button is not intended to replace the EMERGENCY TRAFFIC policy

How does Fire Comm know who activated the Emergency Button?
-radios are registered with Fire Comm by rank/position. This allows Comm to know who the radio with the button activation belongs to.
-also color-coded by rank/position
Color Coding of Portable radios
-White for BC
-Red for Captain
-Black for FE
-Orange for Second FE
-Blue for FF/PM
-Yellow for FF
What is the procedure to follow when have a LOANER radio?
-Call Fire Comm to correctly register the radio to the corresponding position/rank
-This radio will probably NOT be color coded, but will be registered to the position/rank
What is the required action for all personnel upon an INTENTIONAL activation of the emergency button?
-take appropriate action to remain safe
-remain on channel used prior to activation and monitor
-if possible, provide info on situation using "Emergency Traffic" policy
-Use NUCAN format
-if using scba , activate PASS
-if hear rescuers/PD close by, attempt to make location known if safe
