May not sit another exam for a 3 months following the date of the last failed paper - stand down period
What are the flight test prerequisites?
Produce Identity, up to date certified pilot logbook, current medical, produce written exam credit, produce KDR for each exam signed off
When must entries be made into the pilot logbook?
7 days after the competition of the flight except if the flight was international air transport ops, then 14 days.

If the pilot is engaged in ops away from where the logbook would normally be kept, entries to be made 48 hours after returning to base
Minimum medical requirement for a PPL License Holder?
Minimum Class 2 medical
How long is a class 2 medical valid for?
Class to medical valid for 60 months (5 years) from issue date if under the age of 40. If 40 or over, then is valid for 24 months (2 years)
What is the recent experience requirements?
A pilot may not act as PIC of an aircraft within the immediately 90 days unless the person has carried out 3 take off and landings as PIC, demonstrated to a A/B cat instructor competence in T/O and Landing. Same applies to night rating for any aircraft.
When does the recent experience requirement nullify?
The the pilot has not met requirements for a period of 5 years or greater. At that stage, the pilot must pass an approved law exam and meet currency requirements.
What is a BFR (Biennial Flight Review)
BFR is a review conducted by either A/B Cat instructor which takes place every 2 years from the issue date of the pilot license. This is to demonstrate the competence to the instructor your valid in flying
What is the minimum solo requirements?
16 years of age, valid class 2 medical (minimum), fluent in reading, speaking and understanding english language, flight is under supervision of a A/B/C Cat instructor, Pilot has received dual instructions within the the last 5 hours of flight experience and the pilot has piloting experience within immediately 30 days
What is the minimum requirements for a PPL License?
Minimum 17 years old, valid class 2 medical, 50 hours of experience (including 15 hours solo, 5 instrument, 5 low/terrain), if wanting a night rating: 5 hours, exam credit for the 6 subjects, english proficiency and pass flight test
What are the limitations of PPL license?
Can fly but not for remuneration (reward or pay). Act as PIC or Co-pilot but not for hire or reward. May carry passengers.
When can firearms be carried in the aircraft?
It may never be carried unless:
Stowed in an area not accessible to anyone during the flight, disabled, only people associated with the firearm are being flown, operator permits it, there is livestock, if livestock are to be immobilised on the ground
When can firearms be discharged?
If there is livestock on the aircraft needing to be immobilised, shooting animals on the ground if not pose hazard to people or property and not over congested area.
What is an airworthiness cert and can we fly without it?
Airworthiness cert is like a WOF for the aircraft, to prove that the aircraft is safe and airworthy to fly. You cannot fly without one unless the flight is for purposes of demonstrating eligibly of airworthiness issue or renewal
What documents must be carried in the aircraft to operate?
Airworthiness cert, flight manual, CAA 2173 Weight & Bal, CAA 2129 Radio Approval and the Tech Log
When can simulated instrument flight take place?
Aircraft has 2 pilot stations with fully functional dual controls, a safety pilot who has adequate vision forward and to the side, safety pilot is to be current on type with a valid license.
If these requirements aren't met, than simulated flight takes place outside controlled airspace and the pilot can rapidly remove hood
Before operating the aircraft, the PIC must do what?
Cheek all documentation is current and valid, aircraft has been inspected (walk around) and after the flight record and defects noticed by the pilot in the tech log
When must the PIC require each passenger to wear a seatbelt?
During T/O and Landing, when the aircraft flies lower than 1000ft above the surface, at all times in a open cockpit aircraft, during aerobatic flight and when the PIC deems so necessary
If a child is UNDER 4 years of age, does the seatbelt rule apply to them?
It does not as long as the child is held by an adult who is occupying the seat or berth with a safety belt attached to the child.
Or the child occupies a seat equipped with a child restraint system
An in un pressurised aircraft what are the limitations of flight with and without supplemental oxygen?
0-10,000ft, No oxygen is required
10,001 ft to 13,000ft, No oxygen required if flight less than 30 mins, if greater than 30, each crew and px must have supplemental oxygen
Any flight above 13,001 ft, oxygen to be applied at all times
When performing a passenger briefing, what should the pax be briefed on?
Conditions that smoking isn't allowed on the aircraft, location of the exit and how to use the doors, location of the first aid kit, fire extinguisher, ELT and possible flotation devices, the procedures in case of an emergency, and the use of electronic devices on the aircraft.
CAR Part 61 is based on what?
Pilot Licenses and Ratings
CAR Part 67 is based on what?
Pilot Medical standards
CAR Part 91 is based on what?
General Operating and Flight Rules
Car Part 92 is based on what?
Dangerous Goods
When can you operate your aircraft in close vicinity to another aircraft while in flight?
Cannot fly so close to cause a hazard unless in formation flight in which prior arrangements are to be made and PIC of each aircraft is aware of it.
Also, cannot perform formation flight if there are fare paying pax unless parachute ops
Can you drop objects from an aircraft from flight?
Yes if reasonable precautions are taken to ensure the dropped item is not to endanger property or persons
What is the transition Altitude?
Any altitude of flight below 13,000 ft is considered a flight in the transition altitude
What is the transition layer?
The transition boundary layer between the trans altitude and trans level. This is in between 13,000 and 15,000 ft
What is the transition level?
Any flight conducted above is in the transition level in which altitude is not reference of feet, but flight level.
Example: 16,000 ft is the same as FL160.

The altimeter is to be set to 1013.25 at this level and above
What is the VFR Met Minima for class G airspace?
Below 3000ft AMSL or 1000ft AGL, which ever is higher, Clear of cloud and in sight of the surface at all times and 5km viz.

Above 3000ft AMSL or 1000ft AGL, which ever higher, 2km horizontal distance from Cloud, 1000ft ft vertically from cloud and 5km viz
What are the minimum fuel requirements for day and night?

When must a pilot submit a flight plan?
When the pilot plans to precede greater than 50nm from shore and when the pilot requires an alerting service
Minimum height for VFR flights?
