Polygon
A closed figure made of line segments
How are polygons named?
By their number of sides
Regular Polygon
All the sides and all the angles have the same measure

Examples: Quadrilateral, Equlateral Triangle, hexagon
Quadrilateral
Polygon that has four sides, each set of sides are parallel. It is a regular polygon.
Describe an equilateral triangle
An equilateral triangle has 3 sides & 3 angles that are equal. It is a regular polygon
Describe a pentagon
A pentagon has 5 equal sides and 5 equal angles. It is a regular polygon.
Describe a hexagon
A hexagon has 6 equal sides and 6 equal angles. It is a regular polygon.
Describe an octagon
An octagon has 8 equal sides and 8 equal angles. It is a regular polygon.
What is an irregular polygon
Sides and angles of a shape are not equal and/or the sides of the shape are not made by line segments.
