Legislature


An elected group of people who are in charge of formulating or the introducing and passing of laws and managing taxes as well as keeping tabs on the executive by means of supervision and criticism.

Presidential democracy

There are two types of presidential democracy head of state and head of government.

Parliamentary system

Those with election of parliament only, which in turn elects the prime minister.

Checks and balances

The separation off powers so that the branches of government function as a check against the power of the other branches. And in doing so that means the president / head of government (the executive) is not allowed to be a member of legislature.

Fusion of power

Is were the legislative and executive branches are not completely separate because the prime minister or head of government (the executive) is also a member of legislature.

Unicameral

Parliament with one chamber.

Bicameral

Parliament with two chambers (upper and lower).

Deadlock

The legislative and executive branches blocking each other in presidential democracy.
