Plot

The chain of events that make up a story





Exposition

The first part of the plot where you are introduced to the characters,setting,and you learn there is a conflict

Rising action

Where the main part of the story takes place;it moves the plot along and complications begin to arise

Climax

The most exciting or intense part of the story;usually a turning point

Falling action

Events that follow the climax and lead to the resolution

Denouement

The final part of the play or narrative in which strands of the plot are pulled together and matters are explained or resolved

Summarize

Give a brief statement of the main points of something; to sum up

Declarative

A sentence that makes a statement and ends with a period

Imperative

A sentence that makes a command or polite request and ends with a period or exclamation mark

Exclamatory

A sentence that expresses great emotion or excitement and ends with an exclamation mark

Interrogative

A sentence that asks a questions and ends with a question mark
