What is current? |
Electrical current is the flow of electrical charge. The greater the rate of flow, the higher the current. |
What is resistance? |
The measure of how it resists the flow of charge. |
What is potential difference? |
The difference in electrical potential from one point in a circuit to another. |
What is an ohmic conductor? |
A resistor in which the current is directly proportional to the potential difference at a constant temperature. It is indicated by a linear (straight line) graph. |
What is a series circuit? |
- A closed circuit in which the current follows one path. - The current through each load is the same - the total voltage across the circuit is the sum of the voltages across each load. |
What is a parallel circuit? |
- A closed circiut in which the current divides into two or more paths before recombining to complete the circuit. - Each load connected in a seperate path recieves the full circuit voltage. - And the total circuit current is equal to the sum of the individual branch currents. |
What is power? |
The power of a device depends on the potential difference across it and the current flowing through it. |
What is the word equation for charge? |
CHARGE = CURRENT x TIME Q = I t |
what is the word equation for potential difference (voltage) ? |
POTENTIAL DIFFERENCE = CURRENT x RESISTSANCE V = I R |
