Gay Lussac's law states that at constant volume, pressure is directly proportional to absolute temperature. When temperature in a gas cylinder increases, the pressure increases. Application: cylinders in transport. If a cylinder goes from cold environment to warm one, pressure increases. Conversely, cylinder moved from loading dock (45C) to OR (20C), the pressure in the cylinder decreases (hot to cold, pressure decreases). **Remember, cylinder has a constant volume.
