Fall line

Boundary separating piedmont and coastal plain regions. Water falls on fall line due to many rivers. Columbus, Macon, and and Augusta are located there.

Okefenokee swamp

Covers 700 square miles. Largest fresh water swamp in U.S. in Southern Eastern Georgia. Hundreds of animals species, including American alligator.

Chattahoochee river

Goes to Mexico from blue ridge. Forms border between Alabama and Georgia. Used for people living in the piedmont areas.


Savannah river

Boarder between Georgia and South Carolina. Begins in hart county. Flows to Atlantic Ocean. 200 miles between Savannah and Augusta.

Barrier islands

Chain of sandy islands off coast. Protects the mainland form hurricanes. 14 islands including Tybee, St. Simons, Jekyll, and Cumberland. Used mostly for tourism, fishing, and paper industry.
