photosynthesis
6CO2+6H2O=C6H12)6+6O2
Carbon Dioxide + Water = Glucose + Oxygen
Chlorophyl
Green pigment(substance that absorbs light)
photolysis
Chlorophyll absorbs photon of light and is in excited state. Water separated into Hydrogen and Oxygen. Oxygen released. Hydrogen captured by hydrogen receptor. Atp produced.
C02 Fixation
Glucose formed using hydrogen and ATP from photolysis. Glucose combines to form polysaccharides (starch or sugar)
Cellular respiration
released energy for use by cell
Glycolysis
six carbon glucose breaks down into two three-carbon peruvic acids, two ATP molecules and two Hydrogen atoms attached to NADH. Anaerobic.
Aerobic respiration
Krebs cycle and electron transport
krebs cycle
breaks down pyruvic acid into CO@, H+(protons) and 2 ATP molecules. Liberates electrons.
Electron transport
Electrons pass through the ETS(electron transport system) which is a series of cytochrome existing on the cristae of the mitochondria. Cytochromes are pigments containing a protein and a heme group. The iron has been oxidized or reduced. Energy given off as it passes through cytochromes and is stored in ATP. 32 ATPs per cycle. Produces water.
Fermentation(anaerobic respiration)
breaks down peruvic acid molecules into lactic acid or ethyl alchohol and co2. 2 ATP per glucose molecule.
