Serotonin
- controls appetite, temperature, cardiovascular work (increase/decrease BP), muscle contractions, hormone system
Involved with sleep, memory, learning, mood, behaviour, and sexual gratification
- low levels = depression
- increase levels by exercising and eating right
- altered if patient is schizophrenic, obese, had a stroke, has pain, migraines, and nausea
SE: sleepy, headaches, hot flashes
