A toxin or other foreign substance that indicates an immune response in the body, especially the production of antibodies.

Antigen

A protective immune process that involves the activation of phagocytes, antigen-sensitized cytotoxic T cells and the release of cytokines and chemokines in response to antigen

Cellular immunity

An antibody produced by a single clone of cells or cell line and consisting of identical antibody molecules

Monoclonal Antibody

A condition that might occur after an allogenic transplant: donated bone marrow or peripheral blood stem cells view the recipients body as foreign, and the donated cells/bone marrow attack the body

Graft vs Host Disease (GvHD)

Is a type of treatment that mobilizes the body's immune system to fight cancer. The therapy mainly consist of stimulating the immune system to help it do it's job more effectively

Biological Response Modifiers

The immune process that involves B cells that recognize antigens or pathogens that are circulating in the lymph or blood

Humoral Immunity

The production of all types of blood cells including formation, development, and differentiation of blood cells. Prenatally, hematopoiesis occurs in the yolk sac then in the liver and lastly in the bone marrow

Hematopoiesis

An acute allergic reaction to and antigen (e.g., a bee sting) to which the body has become hypersensitive

Anaphylaxis

A substance that initiates a physiological response when combined with a receptor

Agonist

A process by which chemical compounds provide protection to cells against harmful agents

Cytoprotection

Oral inflammation and ulceration

Stomatitis

Any class of proteins present in the serum and cells of the immune system, that function as antibodies

Immunoglobulins

A blood protein produced in response to and counteracting a specific antigen. They combine chemically with substances that the body recognizes as alien, such as bacteria, viruses, and foreign substances in the blood

Antibodies

A class of drugs that suppress, or reduce, the strength of the body's immune system

Immunosuppressants

A condition marked by pain, swelling, numbness, tingling, or redness of the hands or feet

Hand - Foot Syndrome also called: Palmar Plantar erythrodysesthesia

Immune system attacks healthy cells in your body by

Autoimmune Disease

A substance that interferes with or inhibits the physiological action of another

Antagonist

A condition that can occur after treatment of a fast-growing cancer, especially certain leukemias and lymphomas (cancers of the blood). As tumor cells die, they break apart and release their contents into the blood. This causes a change in certain chemicals in the blood, which may cause damage to organs, including the kidneys, heart, and liver.
