CONTRAS:
not given w/ other narcotics
if pt must clear throat w/ cough (pneumonia)
same as Morphine

ADVERSES:
same as morphine - less severe
as anti-tussive: xerostomia, sedation, N & V & C

**don't give to patients who NEED to cough**

**elderly - very sensitive to narcotics**

** Increased fall risk**

N&V
CNS - dizzy / euphoria
RESP & CIRC DEPRESS.
