binds the IL-1 receptor, blocking action.
Tx for RA
AE are headaches, infections, decreased WBC, Ab against drug
Penicillamine
unknown MOA
Tx for RA and Wilson's disease (it chelates Cu)
AE can lead to fatal bone marrow suppresion, is teratogenic, hypersens rxn

Tx for RA and SLE
AE mild with dermatitis, GI irritation, nightmares, and reversible corneal opacity
AE BAD can include irreversible retinal degen with night blindness, blurred vision, light flashes, and photophobia
Sulphasalazine
metabolized to mesalamine in gut, decreasing PG synth.
Tx for ulcerative colitis and RA
Pancuronium
short acting muscle relax
non-depolarizing NMJ comp inhibitor
onset in 1-3m, duration 60-100min, very potent
has histamine release, careful with cardiac disease
surgical relaxation and control of ventilation

acting muscle relax
non-depolarizing NMJ comp inhibitor
onset in 1.5-3m, duration 10-15min
has profoud histamine release, careful with cardiac disease
surgical relaxation and control of ventilation
Atacurium
acting muscle relax
non-depolarizing NMJ comp inhibitor
onset in 2-3m, duration 30min
forms laudanosine leading to seizures, careful with cardiac disease
surgical relaxation and control of ventilation

acting muscle relax
non-depolarizing NMJ comp inhibitor
onset in 3-5min, duration 30min, very potent
surgical relaxation and control of ventilation
Tubocurarine
acting muscle relax
non-depolarizing NMJ comp inhibitor
onset in 3-5m, duration 30-60min
no longer used due to side effects
surgical relaxation and control of ventilation
Cisatracurium
acting muscle relax
non-depolarizing NMJ comp inhibitor
onset in 3-5m, duration 30-60min
surgical relaxation and control of ventilation
Succinyl choline
the only depolarizing NMJ blocker,
vasciculations preceed paralysis
onset in 0.5-1min, duration 5-10min
tracheal intubation and Tx of convulsions
AE are hyperkalemia, increased intraoccular pressure, malignamnt hyperthermia, and cardiac arrythmia with halothane anestesia
Contra in burn victims
Diazepam/lorazepam
"benzodiazepines"
central acting, amplifies GABA in CNS, leading to increase in Cl- and hyperpolarization.
Tx muscle spasms of any origin
Baclofen
central acting derivative of GABA
Tx severe spasticity in MS or spinal trauma pts
Tizanidine
alpha 2 agonist that reduces NT release in CNS
tx for muscle cramping, tightness, and spasticity
Gabapentin
cental acting aminoacid analogue of GABA working on voltage gated Ca channels.
Tx of generalized tonic-clonic seizures and partial seizures
Dantrolene
peripherally acting muscle relaxant preventing Ca release from SR.
Tx spasticity in UMN disorders, MS, cerebal palsy, spinal cord injury, and malignant hyperthermia
Sugammadex
blocks the effects of rocuronium and vecuronium by encapulation and inactivation. Not yet FDA approved
Botulinum toxin
inhibits Ach release from NMJ
tx for upper limb spasticity
