What is a CVC?
Central venous catheter:
central line inserted under the chest in a vein that sits in large vein just above the heart (superior vena cava) has multiple ports that need to be capped if not in use
What are CVCs good for?
quick action on the heart, can measure BP of the superior vena cava, chemo, dialysis, pain, other meds and long term nutrition
All central catheter's (other than a PICC) require this for insertion
