-Intense headache, fever, stiff neck, and vomiting. *sniff neck is an important sign!*
-For N. meningitidis -> purplish-black skin b/c capillary break

Death can happen 24 hours after onset of symptoms

Diagnosis
1) gram stain of spinal fluid
2) culture and biochem
