What is heat exhaustion and what are the symptoms and treatment? |
Over exposure to high temps - combined with high humidity and strenuous physical activity. Accompanied with dehydration. Feeling faint, light headed ness, dizziness, headache, fatigue, vigorous perspiration, muscular cramps and spasms, low blood pressure, thirst, nausea, heat rash Move away from work environment or heat source. Lay them in shade. Drinks of water, seek medical attention, remove clothing and spray with water if hot. |

Over exertion in hot conditions when your body’s cooling system can not cope Feeling very for or flushed Vigorous perspiration Muscular spasm and pain Thirst Nausea Heat rash Treatment - stop work and move to a cooler place, drink water, remove clothing and apply wet towel, sit, lie and elevate legs if faint, fan |

When the body’s cooling system are overcome and it’s temp rises to a dangerous level. Book starts to cook internally. Severe cases it’s irreversible and death will rapidly follow. High body temp >40, red hot and dry skin, weak and possibly collapse, reduced conscious or even unconscious, rapid weak pulse, rapid shallow breathing, seizures Implement immediate effective cooling, remove causality from environment, remove all clothing, sponge and spray with water, fan or expose to breeze, call AV |
