Define sensation
Sensation is the process which our sense organs and respond to sensory information that stimulates them
Define perception
Refers to the porrocess by which we give meaning to sensory information.

Descrbe how the retina works



Light enters through the cornea


Light then passes though the aqueous humours


THe passage of light continues through the pupil.


The iris is a ring of muscles which expand and contract to change the size of the pupil and control the amount of light entering the eye.


Once the light has passed though the pupil, it enters the lens.

Reception?


reception is the process by which the eye receives incoming light from the external environment and focuses it onto the retina where an image image of the visual stimulus is captures.


Receptive field?
is the area of space in which a receptor can respond to a stimulus. ex the area infront of you is your receptive field everything you see is it.
Transduction?
changing electromagnetic energy into electro chemical energy (nerve impulses which can travel along the optic nerve to the brain.
Interpretation
the process in which incoming sensory information is given meaning to that it can be understood.
retinal disparity?
how our brain fuses two images together to form one the closer the object is, the more retinal disparity there is when you close one eye and the potition changes.

accommodation?
muscles in the eye contract in order to accuractley focus a nearer object, also allows for the focusing of moving objects.
structure of the tongue?
On the tongue, taste buds are located within thousands of small bumps caled papillae that you can see and feel on the surcace. An individual papilla may hold one or more taste buds. Each tast bud consists of a cluster of 50-150 taste receptors. Taste receptors have a lifesman of about 10 days.
