Truncus Arteriosus
single arterial vessel arising from base of heart. Complete mixing of systemic and pulm blood. VSD. 22q11 microdeletion.
Systolic ejection murmur. wide pulse pressure, boudning pulses. DiGeorge syndrome related to 22q11 may result in hypocalcemia.
D-Transposition of Great Arteries
5% of congenital heart defects. Aorta arises anteriorly from right ventricle and pulm artery arises posteriorly from left ventricle
20% w/ VSD
20% w/ VSD and pulm stenosis
PGE1 needed to keep PDA open
EGG SHAPED ON X-RAY
Total anomalous Pulmonary Venous Connection
pulm venous return directed to righ atrium. Can occur w/ or without obstruction(anomalous vein enters vessel at acute angle). Obstruction determines whether pulm HTN and severe cyanosis.
