Measuring head circumference in infants and toddlers (0-36 months) |
1. Review last measurements 2. Wash hands and prepare proper equipment 3. Greet and identify the patient. Introduce yourself and explain the procedure. 4. Remove hair accessories 5. Position the tape just above the eyebrows, above the ears, and around the biggest part on the back of the head. 6. Pull tape snugly to compress the hair. 7. Read the measurement to the nearest 0.1 cm or 1/8 inch 8. Chart results in vital signs template of EMR. |
