Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Epithelial cells, not in contact with the basement membrane, develop lesions; metastasizes to lymph nodes if not removed; more aggressive and invasive, usually on back of hands, ears, scalp; appearance is reddened rounded elevated area
Basal Cell Carcinoma
Cells of lowest level of epidermis invade the dermis and hypodermis; exposed areas develop ulcer; slow to metastasize; least malignant and most common, usually on face; appearance is shiny, dome-shaped nodues

Rare but often delay cancer of melanocytes, 50% survival rate, some develop from moles; appearance is brown to black patch, metastasizes to lymph nodes and blood vessels
