Esophagram

It’s a functioning exam and we watch the patient drinking the contrast. Also give c02 crystals. Usually done with barium. Oral administration Esophagus Barium sulfate products

Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI)
|
Upper GI series—A series of x-rays of the esophagus, stomach, and small intestine (upper gastrointestinal or GI, tract) that are taken after the patient drinks a barium solution.

Small Bowel Series (SBS)
|
The most common method of studying the small bowel is the oral method. For this study, the patient drinks the barium suspension and a series of timed radiographs follows its progress through the small bowel.

Barium Enema (BE)

Two different types of enema bags, singles and doubles. Single comes with the barium in it in a dry form. For the double contrast you have two appendages, you put a liquid form of barium in one bag and air pump. There is a little pump that blows up a balloon.

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)

We are looking for patency…looking for opening in the phalopian tube. These are typical for women with fertility problems. a method of producing radiographic images of the uterus and fallopian tubes as part of the diagnosis of abnormalities in the reproductive tract of a non-pregnant woman

This is for the spinal cord; contrast is put in the spinal cord, held in recovery after and causes a headache.
