constant friction and pressure on skin results in thickening of the epidermis and callus formation
Atypical Aveolar Hyperplasia
coinsidered a premalignant lesion for carcinomas of lung
presence of p53 (aka TP53) activity encoded at 17q13
endommetrial Hyperplasia
causes
abnormal proliferation of endometrial glands of irregular size and shapw w/ increase in gland/stroma

high amounts of estrogen over a prolonged time, also some estrogen antagonists
hypertrophy
number of cells in an organ stay the same but a number of individual cells get larger
Hypoplasia
a decrease in cell numer w/o a decrease in cell size
atrophy
the number of cells remain the same but there is a decrease in cell size
difference in involution or atrophy, and agenesis
agenesis is a failure of development of the embryonal tissues that precede and organ resulting in complete absence of the organ. where atropy or involution requires that the organ had achieved normal developmental size prior to involuting to becoming atrophic
aplasia
the embryonal cell mass develops and is visibly present tbut does not further differentiat into a mature functional organ
dysgenesis
cell mass undergoes develoment, but the microscopic architecture of the organ is abnormal and often has a mixture of immature and mature elements
dysplasia
an ambiguous term as it can be taken to relate ot either developmental abnormalities or premalignancy changes.
