What is the main difference between gigantism and acromegaly?
G happens in childhood whilst bones are still growing - acro happens in adulthood after ossification has taken place

Growth hormone - stimulates soft tissue and skeletal growth
What are the main causes of acromegaly?
tumour on the pit gland - usually causes hypersecretion or damage to optic nerve
What are the main symptoms for acromegaly?
enlarged hands and feet, headaches, excessive sweating, large tongue, odema, tiredness, deep voice, galactorrhoea (spontaneous flow of milk)
What are the main symptoms for gigantism?
Giant like features - epiphyseal plate has not calcified yet - long bones continue to grow
