When to use the past participle?
In order to use a verb as an adjective to describe a person, place, or thing.

-->Must agree with the noun being modified
-ar verbs
Drop -ar and add one of the following
-ado (for masculine and singular)
-ada (for feminine and singular)
-ados (for masculine and plural)
-adas (for feminine and plural)
-er/-ir verbs
Same rules apply but endings are:
-ido
-ida
-idos
-idas
Solo econtró gasolineras cerradas
He only found closed gas stations.
Él fue a Cali en un carro alquilado.
He went to Cali in a rented car.
Using estar + past participle
Use this combination to describe a condition resulting from an action.

-->Use the third person singular and plural forms of estar.
Ellos cerraron las gasolineras.

Ahoras las gasolineras están cerradas.
They closed the gas stations

The gas stations are now closed.
Él arreglo los frenos.

Los frenos están arreglados.
He fixed the brakes.

The brakes are fixed.
