What is matter

Anything that has mass takes up space

Even your face

What it mass

The amout of matter in an object

Hey who am I to object

What ar the four examples

1 all substances are made of particals

2 particals are always in motion more energey = faster moving

3 the space between particals determins the level of attreaction

4 particals have a natural attracation to eachother

What are the states of matter

Solid liquid gas

What is solids space

Particals are very close to eachother

What is solids attraction

Very strong attraction between the particals

Solid movement

The particals can not flow past each other only vibrate

What is the space between liquid particals

Some space between particals

What is the attraction in the particals

Somewhat strong

Movement liquid

Particals move rapidley and can slkde over eachother

Space in gas particals

Lots of space

Movement in gas particals

Lots of movement the particals move and bounce from eachother

Attraction in gases

Veary weak forces of attraction

Solid

Riged, fixed shape , fixed volume

Water

Not rigid, no fixed shaoe, fixed volume

Gass

Not rigid no fixed shape no fixed volume

Melting

The change of state from a solid to a liquid.Heat causes particles to move faster and spread apart. Because of the increased space, the attraction between particles lowers. They can now slide past each other.

Evaporation

The change of state from a liquid to gas.Heat causes the particles to move so quickly that they break free of each other. There are now large spaces between them and the force of attraction between the particles is very weak.

Condensation

The change of state from a gas to a liquidParticles are beginning to slow down because of a decrease in temperature and can no longer move freely of each other. They get closer together and the force of attraction increases.

Freezing

The change of state from a liquid to a solid.Because of a lack of heat, movement of particles has become very small. They are now so close together that the forces of attraction are very strong.

Sublimation

The change of state from a solid to gas from heat

Deposistion

The change of state between gas to solid caused by removing heat
