CHOOSING AED Pads or AED Child System
(1) Some AEDS deliver different shocks
a. One for Adult
B. One for Child
(2) Deliver the Child-Appropriate shock
(3) Includes SMALLER pad sizes
(4) Be FAMILIAR w/AED you are using; Turn it on FIRST; FOLLOW the prompts
Use of AED for Infants
(1) MANUAL Defibrillator PREFERRED to an AED for Defibrillation
(2) If MANUAL NOT AVAILABLE, an AED w/PEDIATRIC DOSE ATTENUATOR is preferred
(3) IF NEITHER AVAILABLE, use AED w/o PEDIATRIC DOSE ATTENUATOR
FOUNDATIONAL FACTS:
ADULT DOSE is BETTER than NO Defibrillation Attempt
(1) AED/Defibrillator USE for Infant or Child UNDER 8yrs. W/O CHILD PADS, USE ADULT pads, deliver ADULT DOSE
(2) ENSURE pads DO NOT TOUCH
*VICTIMS 8yrs and OLDER*
(1) Use AED ASAP
(2) Use ONLY ADULT PADS & ADULT DOSE
