pruritis of the butt. worms may migrate to vagine - mucoid discharge
Enterobius vermicularis treatment
Pyrantel pamoate or mebendazole kills adult worms. Treat again 2-3 weeks later to kill worms from eggs ingested later.

Strongyloides stercoralis looks like
very small round worms 2mm long
Strongyloides stercoralis found:
in the soil in the south! Don't walk barefoot!
Types of strongyloides stercoralis disease:
Cutaneous, pulmonary, intestinal.
Cutaneous: mild symptoms, some pruritis.
Pulmonary: Mild symptoms unless lots are present
Intestinal: asymptomatic unless lots.

Thiabendazole.

Adult- tapeworm, only found in man
Life cycle of Tenae soli (cysticercosis)
Adult tapeworms live in human intestine, eggs passed through feces, pigs eat eggs, cycticerci develop in muscle of pigs, we eat undercooked pork and get tapeworms.
Cysticerci in humans
comes from eating tapeworm eggs, cysticerci develop in muscle, brain, eye, skin much lik it does in the pig
Diagnosis of neurocyticercosis
Serology - immunoblot.
Echinococcus granulosus life cycle
Definitive host - dogs, intermediate host- sheep, goats, pigs. Dogs eat livestock, livestock eats dog poop. big deal in the middle east where viscera are fed to dogs.
