Anectine (Succinylcholine)

Side effects: increased potassium (hyperkalemia)


Do not use!: on hyperkalemic pts, Burn pts, pts with mallampati score >3. Contraindicated in acute brain injuries


Alternative choices: rocuronium or Pavulon (Non-depolarizing agents)

Rocuronium

Best choice when Succ’s is Contraindicated like: hyperK, Burn pts, Bradycardia and elevated ICP


Reversal Agents are:


(Anticholinesterase)

Edrophonium, Pyridostigmine

Anticholinergic Agents:

Atropine, Glycopyrrolate and Sugammadex (Bridon)

Sugammadex (Bridon)

Reverses: Rocuronium and Vecuronium


Based on body weight


Side Effects: Bradycardia, not recommended for pts with Renal Faiulre (Dialysis)

Narcan

Narcotic/Opioid Reversal


Side effects: hypertension, tachycardia.

Morphine PCA, Fentanyl, any opioid, OD, PinPoint pupils = Clues to use Narcan

Flumazenil (Romazicon)

Benzodiazepines Reversal Agent.


Side Effects: Respiratory Depression, SOMNOLENCE, and hypotension.


Don’t incubate unless the pt is showing signs of respiratory distress.

Post Surge on: ativan, lorazepam, versed drip will need Flumazenil to reverse the effects
