What are common food allergens? What are the S+S of a food allergy? |

What tests should be done when a food allergy is suspected? |
IGA in vitro test can be used, or a skin prick test, but both modalities have a high false positive rate. |

What are the S+S of Measles infection? How is it diagnosed and how is it treated? |
Fever of 3 days + cough, coryza and conjunctivitis. Measles produces a characteristic maculopapular rash with Koplic Spots which spreads downwards from the head. Measles can be tested for with a serum IgM. Treatment is symptomatic, watching out for severe complications like febrile convulsions, otitis media, bronchitis and pneumonia.

How does rubella present? |
A low grade fever with a maculopapular rash that spreads down from the face. There is no treatment but vaccination is available. |

What is Perthes Disease? |
Avascular necrosis of the hip that affects boys between 5 - 10. There is slow onset hip pain and poor gait in overactive children, the pain radiates down the leg and is worse on movement. Treatment depends on how early the presentation is.
