What does hertz mean? What do our generators run at?

Hertz = cycles per second. 3600 rpms or 60 cycles per second.

Why do we use H2 in our generators instead of air?

Hydrogen is lighter and more efficient at transferring heat than air.

What is the explosive range of H2?

5% - 75% H2 in air.

What H2 pressure do we maintain in 100 / 200?

22 - 25 psi

What H2 pressure do we maintain in 300?

25 - 28 psi

What is CO2 used for on the generators?

To purge the generators and evacuate any air or H2 to prevent the creation of an explosive atmosphere.

When purging from H2 to air explain the gasses used and what goes in top or bottom. Also from air to H2.

CO2 in bottom, air on top.

CO2 in bottom H2 on top.

What should be done in the event of a low purity in the generator?

Vent H2 from the bottom and replace with fresh H2.

When unsynchronized, what will happen as the speed is raised on the turbine?

The frequency will go up.

What is the 300 generator H2 safety set at?

50 psi

What is the purpose of the H2 system excess flow valve?

It's designed to go closed in the event of a leak.

What is the low pressure alarm set at?

30 psi

What type of tools should be used when working on H2?

Non ferrous tools only.

What does a liquid level alarm indicate?

Liquid in the generator.

What is the rated MW capacity of 100/200 generator?

85 MW

What is the rated MW capacity of 300 generator?

120 MW

What is the H2 high pressure alarm set at?

60 psi
