Epicranius Frontalis (Anterior)



Orgin: Epicranial Aponeurosis




Insertion: Skin of eyebrows, root of nose




Action: Raises Eye Brows

Epicranius Occipitals (Posterior)

Orgin: Occipital and Temporal Bones




Insertion: Eppicranial Aponeurosis




Action: Fixes aponeurosis and pulls scalp posteriorly

Obicularis Oris (Mouth)

Orgin: Arises indirectly from maxilla and mandible: fibers blended with fibers of other muscles associated with lips.




Insertion: Muscle and skin at angles of mouth; encircles mouth




Action: Closes lip, kissing and whistling

Orbicularis Oculi (Eyes)

Orgin: Frontal and maxillary bone and ligaments around the orbit




Insertion: Tissue of eyelid; encircles orbit




Action: Closes eye

Orgin: Zygomatic bone




Insertion: Skin and muscles at corner of mouth

Orgin: Molar region of maxilla and mandible

Insertion: Lower margin of mandible, skin, and muscles at corner of mouth




Action: depreesses mandible and tenses skin of neck

Orgin: Zygomatic arch and maxilla




Insertion: Angle and ramus of mandible




Action: Jaw closure

Temporalis

Origin: Temporal fassa




Insertion: Coronoid process of mandible (that passes deep to zygomatic arch)




Action: Closes Jaw - elevates mandible

Sternocleidomastoid

Orgin: Manubrium of sternum and medial portion of clavical




Insertion: Mastoid process (of temporal bone) and Superior nuchal like of occipital bone.




Action: Flexes and laterally rotates the head

Abdominal Oblique - External


(External Obliques)

Orgin: Anterior surface of the last 8 ribs




Insertion: Linea alba through the aponeurosis, pubic crest and tubercle and iliac crest




Action: Flex vertebral column and compress abdominal wall

Abdominal Oblique - Internal


(Internal Obliques)

Orgin: Lumbar fascia, iliac crust, and inguinal ligament




Insertion: Linea alba, pubic crest, and costal margin/cartilage of last 3 ribs




Action: Flex vertebral column and compress abdominal wall

Transversus Abdominis

Orgin: Inginal ligament, iliac crust, cartilages of last 6 ribs, and lumbar fascia




Insertion: Linea alba and pubic crest




Action: Compresses abdominal contents

Rectus Abdominis


"Fibers run sagitally"

Orgin: Pubic crest and symphysis




Insertion: Xiphoid process and costal cartilages of ribs 5-7




Action: Flex and rotate lumbar region of vertebral column

Pectineus

Orgin: Pectineal lineof pubis (and superior pubic ramus)




Insertion: Inferior from lesser trochanter to linea aspera of femur




Action: Adducts, flexes and medially rotates thigh

Adductor Longus

Origin: Pubis near pubic symphysis




Insertion: Linea aspera




Action: adduct and medially rotate and flex thigh

Deltoid

Origin: Laterla third of Clavical; Acromion and Spine of Scapula




Insertion: Deltoid Tuberosity of humerus




Action: Prime mover of arm abduction

Biceps Brachii

Origin: Short head: coracoid process; long head: supraglenoid tubercle and tip of glenoid cavity; tendon of long head runs in intertubercular sulus within capsule of shoulder joint




Insertion: Radial Tuberosity (in Radius)




Action: Flexes elbow joint and supinates forearm

Triceps Brachii

Orgin: Long head: inferior margin of glenoid cavity; Lateral head: posterior humerus; Medial Head: distal radial grove on posterior humerus
