Cell Differentiation

Process when daughter cells differentiate into cells with specific structures and functions by activating genes that code for specialised functions of the cell.

Cell

Smallest unit of structure and function in living organisms.

Tissue

Collection of cells with similar structures and functions.

Organ

Collection of tissues into a structure that performs a useful role in the body.

System

An assembly of organs which perform important tasks in the life of an organism.

Epithelial tissues

Tightly packed layers of cells which form the surface of organs in the body. eg Intestine and Lungs.

Tissues that hold other tissues together, they consist of protein-like collagen and make up tissues such as tendons, ligaments and cartilage.
