Cell membrane |
In plant cells they are inside the cell wall and for animal cells they are on the outer layer. They support, protect, control movement of material, and are the barrier between the cell and the environment. They are selectively permeably. |
Cell Wall |
Only in plant cells on the outermost layer. It supports the structure and helps it grow, allows H2O, O2, and CO2 in and out of cell. It looks rigid, stiff, and is made of cellulose |
Chloroplasts |
In the cytoplasm of the plant cell. It uses energy from the sun to make food/nutrients for the plant. It it is green and filled with chlorophyll, it also is usually ovally. |
Endoplasmic Reticulum |
In both plant and animal cells. This helps to carry materials throughout the cell. It is a network of tubes or membranes |
Golgi Bodies |
In both plant and animal cells. Have a cis and trans face modify proteins made by the cells, package and export proteins. It looks like stacks of floating sacks. |
Cytoplasm |
Found in both plant and animal cells. It supports and protects cell organelles. It is a clear, thick jelly-like substance. |
Lysosomes |
Both in plant and animal cells. They break down large food molecules. It is small, round, and has a cell membrane. |
Mitochondria |
Found in plant and animal cells. It breaks down sugars into energy. Bean shaped with little squiggle going through it. |
Nucleus |
Is found in plant and animal cells. It controls the cells activities. It looks like a large oval. |
Ribosomes |
These are in both plant and animal cells attached to the ectoplasmic reticulum. It produces proteins. And its is a small body |
Vacuole |
In both plants and animals that store food/water waste. It is a fluid filled sack. |
