organelle
These tiny cell structures, called organelle, carry out specific functions within the cell.
cell wall
The cell wall is a rigid layer of nonliving material that surrounds the cell of plants and some other organisms
cell membrane
After you sail through the cell wall, the next barrier you must cross ist the cell membrane.
nucleus
The nucleus directs all of the cell`s activities, including reproduction.
nuclear envelope
The nuclear envelope protects the nucleus materials pass in and out of the nucleus through pores in the nucleus.
chromatin
These strands, called chromatin, contain genetic material, the instructions for directing the cell`s functions.
Nucleolus
This structure, a nucleolus, is where ribosomes are made.
cytoplasm
The cytoplasm includes a gel-like fluid in which many different organelles are found.
mitochondria
They convert energy in food molecules to energy the cell can use to carry.
endoplasmic reticulum
network of passageways. carries materials from one part of the cell to an other
ribosome
produce proteinsmay float in the cytoplasm or be attached to the endoplasmic reticulum
golgi body
they recieve materialos and send them around, they also release things outside the cell
chloroplast
capture sunlight energy to produce food to feed the cell.
vacuole
some animal cells have them. they store food, water, easte and other materials
lysosome
contain chemicals that break down food and wast band old cells.
specialiced cells
Specialized cells perform specialized functions in multicellular organisms. Groups of specialized cells cooperate to form a tissue, such as a muscle.
tissue
An aggregation of morphologically similar cells and associated intercellular matter acting together to perform one or more specific functions in the body
organs
A group of tissues that perform a specific function or group of functions.
organ system
A group of organs that work together to carry out a particular task.
bacterial cell
a cell that does have a cell wall and a cell membrane, but not a nucleus. the ginetic material looks like a thick tangled string and is found in the cytoplasm.
