What is a risk marker?
It is an attribute that is associated with the increased probability of disease but isn't considered to have a causal role in it's development. Examples are age, gender, race, ethnicity, and SES. All of which are nonmodified things- cannot be controlled.

It's associated sufficiently well with a risk factor that it can be used as a reliable marker, or indicator, of the risk factors' presence.

Reliability
Is to the degree to which the study would yield the same results within the same population every time a study is repeated. Focuses on the consistency of the study.
