Le Fort II Fracture

Fracture runs from nasal bones downwards and laterally. It crosses the frontal process of the Maxilla, lacrimal bones, infraorbital rims, lateral walls of maxillary antrum and Pterygoid plates. Nasal septum is also fractured.

Which Fracture Type is this? What bones are involved?

Le Fort III

Runs near frontonasal suture backwards involving full thickness of ethmoid bone. The fracture line continues laterally below optic foramens into posterior limit of the inferior orbital fissures and through the roots of the Pterygoid plates.

Lateral orbital wall and zygomatic complexes also fractured and thus the whole of the mid facial skeleton becomes detached from the skull base.
