Define psychosis
|
lack of contact with reality and unaware
may include delusions, hallucinations, disorganization of thought/ behavior/ speech |

- few years before onset some non specific mood symptoms |

- 1 month of at least 2: delusions, hallucinations, disorganized behavior, negative symptoms

3 schizophrenia spectrum disorder

1. Schizoaffective- schizophrenia + mood disorder but psychosis present with or without mood disorder
2. schizophreniform~ symptoms less than 6 months 3. Brief psychotic disorder~ less than 1 month and complete recovery |

- 10-40% chronic
- 25% resolution/benign course - good outcomes~ female, abrupt onset, late onset - bad outcomes- mainly negative symptoms or disorganization |
