Characteristics of Uterine Leiomyoma?
-Nodules w/i the wall of the uterus
-may be a single or in clusters
-may grow w/i the wall of the uterus or into the interior cavity
-Majority of woman of reproductive age
Risk factors of Uterine Leiomyoma?
-2 Liveborne children
-smokers in some studies
-OCP users in some studies
-Athletic women
More risk:
Obese and Black
SXMs of Uterine Leiomya?
-Most asymoptomatic
-Excessive bleeding
-Dysmenorrhea
-Intermenstrual bleeding
-sensation of fullness in the lower abdomen
Tx for Uterine Leiyoma?
-If its not broke, do not fix
-hysterectomy is the most common**

-Pelvic exam
-Plevic ultrasound
Endometrial Polyps?
-Most solitary
-Consist of surface edometrium, fibrous stroma and thisck walled blood vessels
-Incidence peaks between 40-50
DX and TX of Endometrial Polyps?
Ultrasound or hysterectomy
May present with intermenstrual bleeding.
TX: Polypectomy
Endometrial Hyperplasia?
Range of lesion that confer differeing risks of invasive cancer.
SXMS: im bleeding, Menorrhagia, post menstral bleeding
DX: Endometrial biopsy
