AFTRA

American Federation of Television and Radio Artists: A union that regulates conditions, rates and usage for radio and TV talent.

Agency Director

Person who oversees all agency activity, bookings, go sees, online portfolio production; basically, your agent

Art Director

A creative individual who coordinates, hires, and directs TV or radio advertisements. This is the person who is the overall director of a particular campaign.

Casting

A modeling interview for a specific assignment. Often a client will ask for a specific type (i.e. blonde female ages 14-19)

Digitals

Simple head to toe shots to send to clients. Typically done in blue jeans & fitted shirt or swimwear and/or underwear

Dresser

A person working behind the scenes at a fashion show helping the models with their garments and accessories. This is also a way for new models to be informally introduced to runway clients

Editorial

Print work for a model commissioned directly by a magazine. It can also refer to a style of photography, a model, a look, a style of makeup

E-commerce

Refers to the buying and selling of goods online. Models wear clothing being sold on websites like Amazon, Target and Walmart

Go See

An interview with a client for general purposes only, not for a specific assignment

Release

A contract signed when a model finishes a booking releasing the photo for usage

Residuals

Fee paid to the model for repeat usage of a commercial. Rates are usually governed by AFTRA and SAG.

SAG

Screen Actors Guild: a union of TV and film performers that regulates the industry standards for members to adhere as a standard

Stylist

The person that organizes clothes, accessories, etc. for a photographic booking or fashion show

Usage

Earnings regarding a specific length of time concerning print, stills, commercials and advertising

Voucher

The models invoice submitted to the agency after booking

Weather permit

A booking contingent on weather conditions; phone the agency of weather is not the conditions booked by there agent
