Cells
Each of the body's cells is self-contained, living entity but depends on the rest of the bodies cells to supply its needs.
Composition of cell
Hairlike projections on outside, membrane, inner separate membrane surrounds nucleus,DNA (contains genes), genes contain instructions for making protein.
Pancreas does two functions
Makes insulin (endocrine function) and makes digestive enzymes released into the small intestine
Hypothalamus
Senses a variety of symptoms in the heart, ie glucose, salt content, temperature. Sends signals to cortex part of brain.(thinking outer layer)
Pituitary
Bodies master gland. Regulates activities of the other glands and organs
Peristalsis
Mashing and squeezing action to break up and liquefy food in the stomach and intestines.
