Why do you want to become a nurse?
There are two main reasons why- 1: I am altogether fascinated by medicine and 2: am completely in love with helping people. I feel a strong sense of accomplishment when in roles where I help others, and also when I work as a part of a team. I am also a bit of a nerd too to be honest, I love learning. I feel like if I were to take a job in medicine I would constantly have the ability to learn something new. I would always have the chance to meet new people, and learn more about the way the human mind and body works together. I would never be bored.
What qualities do you posses that will make you a good nurse?
I am a very reliable, caring, empathetic, and dedicated person. I put all of my effort in to being the best at whatever role I am in, I am constantly trying to learn and better equip myself for the future. In the field of nursing this would translate to me being a constantly and passionately studious nurse, who is always trying to be the best person she can be, and provide the best care possible.
What area would you like to work in once you finish school, and why?
I would like to start off working in the ER- I am high energy, someone who always has to be doing something, helping someone. A job where I can think on my feet, help others, and constantly have new things to experience and learn is my ideal career.
In regards to nursing, where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In five years I see myself moving from ER to either a leadership position within the hospital, where I can help those work around me. Or I see myself going back to school to get my CRNA.
In regards to nursing, where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In ten years I will have grown into a lot more experienced nurse and I would like to be working in the upper echelon of leadership to help to raise up the hospital I am working at.
How well do you get along with others?
I would say that I get along with others extremely well. I love meeting new people.
Are you a leader or a follower?
I am definitely a leader. I've held many leadership positions in the past, especially in team sports such as swimming and marching band in high school. IN fact, just recently after learning that I might be moving to Cocoa a lead pastor from my current church asked me to join his leadership team to help to head up a new campus!
Are you comfortable taking a leadership role?
Yes, I am. I enjoy helping others, and overall taking a step-back in order to always analyze what will be the best method or plan for success for any group or organization.
Do you have any questions?
-When students first start rotations at the hospital, what new and difficult situations seem to be the most prevalent?
- What type of job placement assistance do you offer your graduates?
How would you deal with a situation where a person who didn't know you decided he/she didn't like you?
I would make it a point to try to get to know the person so that they could get to know me and like me for who I am.
Is your family supportive of your schooling?
My family is very supportive with anything I choose to do. They support me 100% with my decision to go to nursing school.
Why have you chosen this particular nursing school?
UCF has over 30 years of nursing excellence under their belt- you offer access to education, research, and you are highly committed to clinical excellence. --Clinical excellence is essential when looking for a nursing school, because experience is what aides you in becoming the best nurse you can be.
What is your definition of plagiarism?
To me plagiarism is using anyone else's work without giving them credit for it by citing it. It is also trying to take credit for something that you personally did not come up with on your own.
What is the most challenging this in your life so far?
Working for a family as a CNA/Nanny for just two weeks before the mother passed away of brain cancer. It was very difficult to watch Charlette go through the end of her battle, and even more difficult to try and assist her husband and son in the grieving process.
Rate youself on a scale of 1-10.
I would give myself an 8. I feel like I am the best person that I could be but there is always room for learning and improvement.
What is the biggest mistake that you have ever made?
I think the biggest mistake that I have made was messing up when I was a leader in marching band--- told ppl wrong time for mini camp. Stood up to director and admitted it was my fault, needless to say I am always very careful to check and double-check important things in my life, because of that experience.
What do you want to do in life?
I want to be able to help people. I want to get the chance to help people recover from whatever they are suffering from.
What qualities do you most admire in people?
I admire anyone that has a great sense of humor but at the same time knows when to be serious. I admire people who won't take no for an answer when it is easier to just give up.
How are your grades?
My grades are good! I am constantly improving them also.
Describe the perfect nurse.
The perfect nurse would have to have a great deal of knowledge! The nurse would need to have compassion for the job and must have the want to help people. The perfect nurse knows how to treat each patient like they are important so that the patient does not feel like they are just another name on a list. The nurse must also have respect for everyone around them including themselves. The perfect nurse must never accept failure!
What do you think about policies and rules?
I think that we must have these to keep everything in order. I think policies and rules are put in place to better our environment.
