What are some family history parts of the lungs?
lung cancer, asthma, emphysema, TB, viral or bacterial infections, respiratory allergies, risk factors
How can you reduce lung cancer risk?
stop smoking, healthy low cholesterol diet with Vitamin E, limit exposure to air pollution, avoid second hand smoke
What are some physiologic problems with lungs?
fever, chills, night sweats, cough, SOB, chest pain with breathing, anemia, sinus congestion, edema, confused, restless
What does mucoid sputum mean?
(clear,watery)- tracheobronchitis, asthma, common cold, viral
What does yellow or green sputum mean?
bacterial infection
What does rust or blood tinged sputum mean?
pneumonia, TB
What does black sputum mean?
black lung disease
What does pink frothy sputum mean?
pulmonary edema
What position is best for lung assessment?
