Impairment
Any loss or abnormality of psychological, physical, or anatomical structure or function.

* Does not affect an individuals ability to function in daily activities and does not produce disabilitty. (Glasses)
Disability
If the impairement is severe enough to cause a change in functioning.

*Any restriction or lack of ability to perform an activity in the manner or within the range considered normal for a human.
Handicap
A disadvantage for a given individual resulting from an impairement or disability, that limits or prevents the fulfillment of a role that si normal for that individual.

* The loss or limitation of opportunities to take part in the life of the community on an equal level with others.
Phases of Rehabilitation
1. Trauma and early post-trauma

3. Accomplishment of ADLs, mobility, and self-care

Rehabilitation
A dynamic process in which a disabled person is aided in achieving optimum physical, emotional, psychological, social, or vocational potential in order to maintain dignity and self-respect in a life that is as independent and self-fulfilling as possible.
Vocational Rehabilitation
Assist disabled person get employment.
Restorative Care
The purpose of restorative care is to actively assist individuals in long-term care settings to maintain their highest level of function and to assist residents in retaining the gains made during formal therapy. It emphasized nursing interventions that promote adaptation, comfort, and safety within a long-term care setting. Assists people with ADLs
Goals of rehabilitation
1. Achieve maximum potential of function and self-sufficiency.
2. Achieve an acceptable quality of life.
3. Client's specific needs are addressed.
4. Client/Family adapts and adjust to a changed life.
5. An optimal state of wellness is promoted and complications are prevented.
6. Return to successful function within community.
