Alliteration
|
The commencement of two or more words with the same consonant sound or group.

|
Expressions of truth or generalizations of human existence through symbolic fictional figures.

Anagnorisis
|
The point in the plot, especially the tragedy, when the protagonist recognizes their own or another character's true nature.

Anecdote
|
A short story, usually humorous, telling something about the individual.

Antagonist
|
The character or force that opposes the protagonist.

Archetype
|
A theme, image, motif, or pattern that occurs often enough in literature to be considered universal. (Darkness for evil, light for hope, etc.)

Author's Purpose
|
Why author is writing the piece, or what they want to achieve.

Climax
|
Point of greatest tension and action in the story. A turning point in the story where all the action leads up to.

Conflict
|
Struggle the protagonist faces to reach climax. It can be physical or internal.

Denouement
|
The story after the climax. The resolution or outcome of the story.
