Describe alpha 1 receptors and what happens when stimulated
Gq coupled, increase IP3 and DAG
- Causes smooth muscle contractions, contraction in the viscera, pupil dilation

Severe allergic response - histamine released causing system vasodilation. So BP decrease
What is used to treat anaphylactic shock and how does it help?
Adrenaline administered intramuscularly, causes vasoconstriction (skin and viscera) and bronchodilation, also increases HR which will increase BP
What is the feedback inhibition involving alpha 2 receptors?
When activated (presynaptically) it reduces cAMP levels which blocks Ca channels, thus inhibitting NA release. Thus BP decreases
What do MAO inhibitors do?
less NA degradation, could lead to hypertension
