Composed of 7 members appointed to 5-year terms by the Governor.
There are 3 each from Bergen and Hudson Counties, and the Commissioner of Community Affairs.
The Commission has wide powers for planning and project implementation, including authority to:
1) Prepare, adopt and implement a master plan for the physical development of all lands and to implement zoning and other regulations for carrying out that plan;
2) Identify and declare redevelopment areas, to plan for redevelopment, to implement regulations pertaining to redevelopment, and to implement redevelopment programs through acquisition and other means;
3) Acquire land or interest therein, including through the use of eminent domain and to issue debt and borrow funds to facilitate development.
Hackensack Meadowlands Municipal Committee
Acting in an advisory capacity, comprising the mayors or chief elected officials of each constituent municipality, for a total of 14 members.
