Thanks, Pastor Sam! Hello everyone. My name is Allen. I’m on the teaching team here at Cornerstone and serve in our creative arts and digital media ministries. I work at a local startup here in San Francisco. My wife and I have been attending and serving at Cornerstone for coming up on 5 years. We’re super excited to have you with us today. The Next Step is an important series of classes near and dear to our heart as a church. We hope you find it fun and informative as we bring you closer to our mission and vision for the community we hope you’ll continue to be a part of. Today’s eat and greet is part I on our journey together. We’ll start with a little icebreaker so that you have an opportunity to meet a few of your neighbors before heading into a brief segment on our philosophy of ministry. From there we’ll take a few questions and invite you to join us for the next class on August 23rd. If that sounds good to everyone let’s take a few minutes to engage with those around us over a nice game of BINGO! |

Thank you, Pastor. Now that we’re warmed up, let’s talk a bit about our philosophy and vision. Cornerstone’s mission is to be an exceptional outreach church that establishes people as committed followers of Christ. To bring this to life we’d like to share a video by our lead Pastor, Pastor Terry, who came out of sabbatical to record this segment JUST for you. Well, maybe not, but it’s a great piece that sums up ministry - in his words. If you’ve only been here for a few months, Pastor Terry may be a new face. As I mentioned he is currently on Sabbatical and we’re looking forward to having him back with us in mid-november. [Roll video] As you consider giving to, participating and / or serving in this body, recognize that we are inviting you to be in mission WITH us as we work to posture ourselves with humility, compassion and grace while remaining firm in our commitment to the scriptures. What you’re being invited into is a missional community that thinks about our environment, posture and communication with gentleness, firm purpose and faithfulness. All of which you’ll learn more about in our coming classes which we’ll talk through in a bit. |
