Who was John Marshall?
Federalist, Chief justice of Supreme Court. His decisions throughout his years on the Supreme Court strengthen the power of the court and the federal gov't. He established the principle of judicial review with Marbury v.Madison

Marbury, a last minute appointment by Adams (midnight judge) did not get official papers appointing him judge. James Madison was suppose to deliver them. He would not. The courts ruled unconstitutional.
