What does the cranial nerve VII do?

FACIAL NERVE = motor movements of the upper and lower face.




Test by asking patients to smile, raise eyebrows, and close eyes.

What does cranial nerve VIII do?

VESTIBULOCOCHLEAR NERVE = balance and hearing

What does cranial nerve XI do?

SPINAL ACCESSORY NERVE= innervates trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles




Tested by asking patients to shrug, or turn their head against your hand.

HYPOGLOSSAL NERVE= innervates the tongue




Test by having the patient stick out their tongue. It deviates TOWARDS the weakness.
